Welcome to The Order Before the Chaos!

Hello! Welcome to The Order Before the Chaos!  We are so happy you decided to visit us.  We would like to introduce ourselves before we start on our blogging journey together.  Curious to know what the order before the chaos means?  Em did a great job of explaining it and why we are here.  You can check it out HERE.

So, a little bit about ourselves and how we ended up on this adventure.

We met in Germany many years ago, where our military husbands were both stationed.  Elle had two kiddos and had been married for a few years; Em was a newlywed expecting her first little bundle.  We became fast friends and despite living thousands of miles from each other for most of our friendship, distance has not been able to separate us.  Thirteen years and five more children later we still live in different states and time zones but share a friendship that has borne the test of time.

Em is married to a great guy, whom we'll call Mr. Hollywood, because he knows more about movies (and all things movie related) than ANYONE.  They have five lovely bundles of joy ranging in ages from 1-13…yes, she is finally a mother of a teenager and her fun has officially begun.  Three boys and two girls keep her more than busy homeschooling, gymnastics, archery, frequent visits to  the zoo and various museums in their area, and being heavily involved with church.  She is an amazing cook and loves to share her mad kitchen skills with all who pass through her door.

Elle is also married to a great guy (we are both so blessed), whom we will call 007…cause he’s just that awesome.  She is mother to three wily monkeys ages 10, 14, and 16.  She is a homeschooling, stay at home mom who doesn’t stay home and spends a portion of her day wondering if God intended her life to be spent as an unpaid taxi driver.  She finds respite in crafting, baking, cake decorating, and learning all kinds of new things.  Eventually she will find herself back in school because one degree just doesn’t seem to be enough.

Elle attended a women’s conference where she came across two friends who were separated by a cross country move for work, but loved each other so much they didn’t want to lose the closeness they had shared as friends in the same town.  So they decided to start a blog to keep them connected and give them a purpose they could fulfill together as friends.  She felt deeply moved by this idea and felt impressed that she and Em should pursue something similar.

Little did Elle know that at this same time, Em was feeling the call to write and share her experiences and life lessons with others.  When Em brought up the subject of blogging, Elle knew this was the path she was meant to pursue.

God really spoke to our hearts and we feel absolutely guided to start this journey and to be a voice in the world for mothers…real mothers.  The kind that struggle and never give up, have courage to do the hard things and make decisions based on what’s right, not what’s popular.  Mothers who want the best for their families and are willing to pay whatever price is necessary to succeed.  Mothers who are unafraid of the ridicule of the world, who are more concerned with pleasing God than man.  Mothers who love their families but haven’t lost themselves.  The world needs more of these mothers and we are excited to share what we have learned and to learn from all of you on this journey.

Thank you for joining us, we hope that we will be an influence for good in the world.

Keep being awesome,

Elle and Em
